3 new UK hotels for 2016

1562x765_12_thyme_aboutusThere are few things I love more than a gorgeous boutique hotel. They’re almost up there on a par with my children (I’m kidding, I’m kidding…or am I?!) Which is why, I am extremely excited about the prospect of these three new beauties opening this Spring. Two (The Pig at Combe and The Painswick) come from bonafide leaders in the boutique hotel field, whilst the third (Thyme) looks so darn lovely, we are sure it’s a classic in the making. And, what’s that? An opening offer for one of them of £99 per night? Yup, it’s too good to ignore….

Thyme Hotel, Gloucestershire

Why? The Cotswolds are fast becoming the most fashionable rural area in England, stuffed to the gills with hot hotels (Soho Farmhouse, Calcot Manor and Dormy House, to name but a few), but there is still room for more. If you love food and fancy a child-free break (only those aged 12 and above are allowed), then this is the place. There are 8 rooms in the main farmhouse (some with roll-top baths, others with beamed ceilings) and a choice of two-storey suites housed in sweet little cottages, as well as a fantastic cookery school and cool lounge/cocktail area The Baa. Lunch and dinner is served in the owner’s pub The Swan, while the whole place is available for exclusive hire if you fancy throwing the party of the century.

Where? In postcard-perfect Southrop, the village where Kate Moss got married in 2011.

When? Open now.

Doubles from £260 a night.

The Painswick, Gloucestershire

Why? If it’s anything like its sister hotels, the new opening from the Calcot group (Barnsley House and Calcot Manor are two of my favourite ever hideaways) is going to be divine. Centred around a restaurant serving a Franco-British menu, there’ll be sixteen rooms and two treatment rooms housed in a stunning Palladian building, formerly home to the Cotswold88 hotel. Food will be a big draw, whilst the decor by long-term Calcot collaborator Nicky Farquhar and designer Cathy Birtles and is bound to be gorgeous.

Where? In the historic Cotswolds town, Painswick.

When? 21st March

This fab offer promises rooms on selected days for just £99 a night for the first 100 days of opening. Offer subject to availability.

The Pig at Combe

Why? Because The Pig has cornered the market in chic, yet affordable boutique hotels. Their other properties (in Hampshire, Bath and Dorset) are mega-hits and their latest offering in Combe, Devon is sure to be a winner. Formerly known as the Combe House hotel, the building is currently being revamped and rejigged into the next Pig. Expect 33 rooms and suites spread between the main house and stable yard, an incredible restaurant focusing on local food (just think of all that fresh fish!) and beautiful gardens to explore (complete with two potting sheds where you can indulge yourself with spa treatments).

Where? Only 8 miles from the coast and 15 miles from Exeter in Devon’s idyllic Otter Valley.

When? Early summer 2016.

Rooms at The Pig at Combe will start from £145.

These hotels look AMAZING. I’d feel like a Princess if I’d ever spend a night there – how beautiful 🙂
