If you follow us on Instagram you may know I have a *something* of a weakness for white blouses of the be-frilled and pretty persuasion. Indeed, were I to be required to select a Mastermind subject, white blouses might be it.* I am often asked about where I find them (here, there and everywhere) and so have – after MUCH prevarication – collated an edit. Without further ado, I give you 30 of the best white blouses available right now.

They are, I do believe, pretty much universally flattering – lifting winter pallor or highlighting a summer/lockdown tan where required. You can opt for as flouncy and lacy as your heart desires, or try something more restrained – like the Whistles shirt below, which has just a hint of frilled collar. Look out for pretty collars which can peek out from underneath your favourite knits on cooler days. I like to tug cuffs just beyond the periphery of sleeves for the same reason. They work well with denim – and are particularly good under dungarees – which cut through and toughen their prettiness to great effect. There was a feature in The Times Magazine a few weeks ago which advised against wearing dungarees with peasant-style tops which had Alex and I exchanging ‘what the actual heck?’ Whatsapp messages. To borrow from Friends: could that be any more wrong? Dungarees and pretty peasant tops or, indeed, pretty white blouses, are as perfect a match as jam and cream on a scone.
Things to look for in a white blouse: well-placed ruffles, details, broderie anglaise, embroidery, statement sleeves (a puff! A vast ruffle cuff!), collar details, cotton content.
Top hunting grounds: This rather depends how much you want to spend. Try Claudie Pierlot, Sezane, Chloe, Isabel Marant Etoile, Rhode if you want to spend more, but there are plenty of excellent options on the high street – the majority of my edit [below] belongs to the latter. (Although my favourite is this one which has, admittedly, a slightly more punchy price point, but would you just LOOK AT IT?)
