How to create the perfect child’s room by Jo Tutchener Sharp of Scamp & Dude

Jo Tutchener Sharp is one impressive woman. Not only is she the founder and former MD of mega agency Beauty Seen PR and the founder of the BRITs Spa, she is also behind the brilliant kids clothing and interiors brand Scamp & Dude. Launching next month online and in Liberty, Scamp & Dude is a huge project for Jo, who hopes it is going to help children whose parents are seriously ill or have died, and dreamed up the idea when she herself was in hospital. We can't wait for Scamp & Dude to launch, particularly because Jo has seriously good taste. When I first saw pictures of her sons' rooms on Instagram (@jotutchenersharp and @scampanddude) I instantly fell in love and wanted to know exactly how she put them together. From her Instagram-sourced prints to brilliant toy storage ideas, this is how she did it....…

How to decorate a nursery

I’ve decorated the designated nursery in my home twice. Both times I went with a very neutral palette (more on my little boy’s room here) – sinply because I felt I would personalise the space once I got to know its little owner. However, I wish I had known about nursery design  destination Olli Ella sooner. (Kate! Wills! There’s still time!) Set up by sisters Chloe and Olivia Brookman, the ethos behind Olli Ella is that not only should the decor in your baby’s room be beautiful, useful and stylish – but should also work anywhere else in the home. This is the smart – and super-stylish – way to decorate. With the most delightful, playful prints and gorgeous designs – I am totally smitten (and can forsee some additions to my little boy’s nursery). Co-founder Chloe agreed to talk us through her tips for decorating that terribly important small bedroom……

Hop Little Bunny…

Hop along, right into my little girl’s bedroom. How gorgeous are these rabbit cushions from new-to-me Little Cloud (£24 each in a variety of Liberty prints)? Perfect for Easter (and Easter Bunny fans – my daughter has gone to school with an Easter bunny hat for her bonnet parade this morning). I’m quite besotted. I also love the personalised name cushions – which would make gorgeous presents. This is one website to click now – it’s full of delights.…

Wallpaper with the wow factor

We love a new website discovery here at W&W. HIbou Home sells inventive, child-friendly but not twee, wallpaper and fabric. I have fallen back in love with wallpaper in recent times – and I love the idea of papering the walls with something to inspire your child and pique their interest – be that cowboys, owls or the whole world.…

10% discount on Lucy Loves This prints

This post comes with excellent timing as I’m in the process of redecorating my son’s (soon to be sons’) room (eek sharing – nightmare or dream come true?). As well as re-painting (Dulux Swedish Grey) and re-stickering (dinosaurs), I’m also on the look out for a couple of new prints. Quite fortuitously, I have recently stumbled across Lucy Loves This, a wonderful London-based design studio specialising in hand-pulled typographic prints. Just look at the detail…             As well as the alphabet and individual letters for children, Lucy Loves This also produces numbers – and for adults – tea towels, cards, printed tote bags and a whole collection of city and London neighbourhood-inspired letters (although who says only children would love them?)     Usually priced at £22 per print, Lucy Loves This is offering Wear & Where readers a 10% discount on all orders until the 25th October. Just enter the code wearandwhere10 at check out.…

Little room love: inspiring ideas for children’s bedrooms

I’ve been thinking a lot about decorating my son’s bedroom recently. It’s taken him from babyhood to 3 years old and while there’s no desperate need to redecorate, I think perhaps it’s time to change things around. If we had the space (not to mention the architectural layout) to do a boy’s version of the above photo, then I’d be all over it. In fact, if I had a daughter (and the space) then I’d pretty much copy the room’s design full-stop. I love the split-level layout, the all-white feel and the sweet little design accents such as the bunting, day bed turned into a bed and the huge windows looking out on to the garden. Just gorgeous. The room below has a similarly light and airy feel.…

Indian Summer: 5 of the best tipis for children

I love tipis (or teepees or wigwams), so much so that we slept in one on our wedding night. I particularly love this tipi pictured above, although admittedly I am neither creative, green-fingered or energetic enough to try and reconstruct one at home. But, it’s a great idea, no? If you had the space, the time and the know-how, then wouldn’t it be amazing to build one in your garden? Failing that, you could always go the easy route and buy one of these below. Some are for outside, some are for inside, but all are designed for children (although Hearthworks also make amazing ones for adults), and who other than me, loves a tipi more than a small child?…
