Are you a fun parent?

By 'fun' we don't mean channelling Regina George's mother in Mean Girls, oh no. We're not talking dressing like you're 'down with the kids', getting them drunk on margaritas aged 12 or discussing the merits of Taylor Swift's love life like you're an actual OMG LOL teen (Ok that last one is sort-of allowed as who isn't intrigued by the are they for real? cultural phenomena of Hiddleswift?) What we mean is rather than stressing about the mess/homework/school grades, actually having fun With Your Children. As yes, it is ok to do that too....…

As an Interior Designer with an amazing eye for unique pieces, colour and family-friendly living, Laura Stephens is our go-to girl for anything Interiors-related (having just moved house I'm sure she dreads my frequent emails asking about trims, curtains, cushions....). Otherwise, read on to see just how she transformed the ground floor of a pretty normal house into a beautiful family-friendly living space...…

Win! An outfit from Polarn O. Pyret’s Same Difference collection

Beautifully made with a great unisex ethos, Polarn O. Pyret is one of my favourite brands of childrenwear. I also agree whole-heartedly with the message behind its new rainbow-striped Same Difference collection - that "no matter who they are, where they come from or how they look, every child deserves the right to a childhood." To celebrate the launch of the collection (where €1 from every garment sold goes to the World Childhood Foundation), we are giving you the chance to win an outfit (consisting of two items) from Polarn O. Pyret for your child/nephew/niece/favourite small person...…

Not just for Londoners, The London Mummy is a fantastic (and beautiful) blog from former Fashion PR (and founder of curated shopping site TLM Edit) Lucinda Robins focusing on fashion, family, activities, beauty and interiors. As a mother of 3 she's been on her very own parenting trip for the last 5 years and unsurprisingly, has picked up a few great tips and insights along the way - such as, "you will never have the perfect family." We couldn't agree more...…

Children and Screen Time

Screen time and children. Discuss. "Am I," asked my friend, "being weird and uptight about this?" The scenario: they'd had friends over for the day. The friend's child spent almost the entire day glued to an ipad. There was no requirement for the screen to be put aside to speak to the visitors or play with her children. Then, in the evening, the ipad screen was swapped for the TV screen. In my view: no weirdness here. There are two things which bother me about this: the manners and the excess of screen time. Manners, we'll leave aside for now. Screen time...now there's an interesting discussion.…

Designer, former rock chick and mother of four (Daisy, Alfie, Frankie and Betty), it only feels right that Pearl should have her own range of whimsical childrenswear (read more about it here). It also feels entirely suitable for her to share her parenting wisdom.…
