I have to admit to enjoying the incongruity – and the grandeur. I currently have the modern strip lighting we inherited from the last owners, but I could be tempted. If, that is, I could get my husband on side. Which I doubt.
These are fairly magnificent specimens (kitchens and chandeliers) so perhaps something a little more achievable might inspire the reluctant?
You can go rustic… (Think natural materials, stripped wood, painted cupboards, crockery artfully displayed.)
Or nod to the industrial… (Steel, grey floors or cupboards, exposed brickwork. I love how the red chandelier pops against the white and dark grey.)
If I was buying, I would head to John Lewis, Sweetpea and Willow and the secret home of genius lighting, BHS.
