Clutch Bags to Covet

fb257ffbfc37a40cac11a0a619af4569A gorgeous clutch bag can dress up an outfit like nothing else. (I only wish I had more of a need to dress up said simple outfits – especially for the evening. I think, once this little one arrives and has settled in, I need to reinstate date night. I miss my husband…. Also, as Suzanne, a lovely W&W reader recently reminded me, I do love pretty much any meal at High Road House.)

In any case, my point here is that a clutch bag is very fine thing. Moreover, you can find some fabulous bargains on the high street – there is no need to spend a small fortune on an item you won’t us all that much (although I do like the idea of popping a clutch inside a tote and whipping it out when a big bag would be too much – I do this with my Mother’s Day present (yes, I lucked out). Anya Hindmarch aside, none of these beauties is more than £40. Bargaintastic.I am definitely on a boho tip at the moment – last week I bought the most adorable little blue shirt from JCrew in the sale – which, vexingly, isn’t on the website, so I’ll post it on our Instagram feed instead – and how much do I want this? So forgive me if I’m drawn to all things boho, beaded and beautiful…f815e57e9491c524a1845765524f42b9

I espied it walking by Accessorize en route to a breakfast meeting the other day – and would have nipped in and bought it right then and there, were I less conscientious about being on time. Isn’t it a beauty? So very South of France.

I also love this tasseled number. It has more than a touch of Tory (Burch) about it.

Rare is the day that Zara does not deliver. This is perhaps more evening-y. but you could definitely dress it down with jeans and a white shirt. (Or go dressy – don’t let us stop you…) That flash of neon pink and orange makes my heart sing.

For a more casual vibe, this Topshop number is ideal. Love that tassel/pom pom combo…

Beaded clutches tend to remind me of summer weddings – if you have one (or more) to attend this year, this bejewelled leather Asos number would suit beautifully. Why not bring a dash of Morocco to a perfectly English occasion?

(If you fancy something a little more floral-inspired, try this for a statement piece. Or, if you feel a bit pom pom crazy, opt for this one. Matthew Williamson shows how to do it to excess…

Hello! I am a Mummy of two (5y & 8mths) fighting the daily battle to stay serene and stylish(ish). New to your sire and find it inspirational. I love the clutch bags as well as the pictures of the full pleated skirts on this article (I am soon to return to my other day job as a lawyer) and quite fancy something similar for the office….any suggestions of where I should be looking to find a lovely full skirt that I can wear with a shirt to work or a t-shirt/ cardigan more casually?

Hi Emma, thank you for your lovely comment.

You sound like us! I feel like I have a split style personality: torn between work (I work at Glamour – so no pressure to look fabulous there, then!…) and on duty with my little girl. I also LOVE a full skirt – I would be wearing one now were I not 6 months preggers.

Now, as you’re a laywer, does this mean you have to be more sombre and low-key (plain colours, for instance), or could you do something like, say, a patterned skirt with a crisp white blouse?

Hello! I work in a small office (having left a city corporate firm) so can get away with more interesting choices than straight forward suits. In my head I would be swanning about in lovely patterned shirts and cropped trousers or full skirts and coloured tops. In reality I often end up with black trousers and white t-shirts. Keep up the good work with your site, it’s great.
