THIS COMPETITION IS NOW CLOSED Christmas is coming and to celebrate we have a wonderful prize to give away: a stay at The Painswick, a super-stylish hotel that’s just been named ‘Hotel of the Year’ in the Sunday Times’ ‘Ultimate 100’ British hotels. Sister hotel to my favourite family-friendly hotel, Calcot and the uber-romantic Barnsley House both also in Gloucestershire, it is heaven. Beautiful rooms? Check. Great food? Check. Beauty Treatments? But, of course. If that all sounds good, then read on….
When it comes to beautiful hotels that you want to move into forever, the Calcot Collection is hard to beat. I am a long-term fan of both Calcot and Barnsley House, two hotels where beautiful interiors, luxury and a laid-back atmosphere go hand-in-hand. The latest member of this lust-worthy collection is The Painswick, a 16-room restaurant-with-rooms in Painswick village, close to Stroud in Gloucestershire.
Housed in a stunning wisteria-clad honey stone building, The Painswick exudes country cool with beautiful antique furnishings interspersed with modern touches such as pineapple-print wallpaper, surges of colour and gorgeous glass lamps. Rooms are stunning – decorated in seductive shades of mink and blue with clever little touches such as updated Ladybird books by the beds and huge, comfy armchairs. In short, if you’re looking for interiors inspiration you’re going to find it here.
You’re also going to find delicious food, excellent wine and killer cocktails (I mean, what else would you want from a weekend away?) Head chef Michael Bedfood earned a Michelin star at his last restaurant and his menu here is wonderful. Classically-inspired, yet eclectically exciting with plenty to tempt you to try just another course. Equally inviting is the bijou first floor bar, which is stocked with enough spirits to sink a ship. And a must (well my must whenever we go away) is Afternoon Tea, perhaps with a glass of champagne? Well, why not?
To complete the picture of gorgeousness, treatments by Calcot Spa are available in two treatment rooms. With manis and pedis from Leighton Denny and Elemis facials and massages, it is a mini-spa heaven.
If you would like a night away at The Painswick with dinner included (yes, really!) then head over to our Instagram account @wearandwhere to enter. Or, if you don’t have an Instagram feed, then email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. For an extra entry please share on Facebook. Good luck!!
T&Cs: prize is an overnight stay for 2 people in a double/twin room with dinner (food only) and breakfast included. Prize to be taken before the 1st March 2017. The prize is subject to availability and excludes public holidays and Valentine’s Day. Anyone entering by email agrees to their email address being passed onto The Painswick and to be signed up to Wear & Where’s newsletter (which is worth it anyway!) Competition closes Friday 8th December 2016.
