Ok. So the sun isn’t shining ALL the time, but summer (we promise) is on the way! And with that in mind, we’re thinking about our summer wardrobes. Natasha is off on a well-deserved holiday soon, so she is particularly in the mood for summery dresses, gorgeous tops and brilliant shorts. Not that you need to be going on holiday to be thinking about your new season wardrobe. From easy-to-wear everyday pieces to holiday buys and smarter going out wear, we’ve put together a little edit of our favourite pieces from Hush’s new collection. We love Hush – the cut and the style are fantastic, and this year it’s looking really good….
I’m not so good with dresses in winter (can’t be bothered with the tights), but come summer I love them. I really like the look of this navy embroidered dress. It is perfect for the mornings, when you don’t have time to think what to wear! Just slip on and go (and it has tassels)! This olive star dress is also another easy no-brainer. For something a little smarter, you can’t beat this chambray shirt dress. Add wedges for a retro70s feel. A great pick for summer lunches and work (if your office is suitably relaxed). This black dress is that rare thing: a dress up/down dress that would look great with flip-flops by day and gorgeous with embellished sandals or heels at night. No surprise it’s currently sold out (but back in stock soon)
Maxis are made for holidays. This lovely blue and white one would be a great go-anywhere dress. You could even slide down the straps for an all-over shoulder tan! And this white strappy dress is just divine, the blue detailing gives it a fab Greecian feel, while the cut is super-flattering. I’ve had my eye on this sleeved tassel dress for a while and it is, in fact, in our Holiday Shop. The sleeves are gorgeous (the tassel detail is fab) and the cut is perfect if you don’t like putting too much flesh on show. Love it.
Hush are excellent at jumpsuits. If you haven’t yet tried one, then do. They really are such a flattering garment (ooh I suddenly feel all 18th century!). This strappy one sold out, but is back in – an excellent holiday buy. Now this one is the one I want. It just looks gorgeous and is another of those pieces that works just as well at home and on holiday. I would even wear it to the office. Finally, I have the long-sleeved version of this and it’s one of my most favourite things. I wear it at night with sandals or heels and it’s just so easy and simple and flattering. What more could you want?
The peasant folk blouse has become such a summer staple. This one has the embroidery without the big sleeves and is a very pretty buy. It is however, this one (pictured above) that I’m a bit gaga about. I just adore it, so much so we added it to our Spring Shop. The white with blue detailing, the fringing, the cut. It’s just divine. Little details can elevate a relatively top into a thing of beauty. The discreet tassels on the end of this elbow-length sleeve turn this white top (also in black) into a very chic must-have. And, a great t-shirt is always a good investment. I have this heart logo one and love it. Great for dressing down, it also looks gorgeous with a smart skirt. Note: Hush do a great cut, so even if you don’t like this style, try another.
Isn’t the above jumper fab? Yes, I know I may sound like a stuck record with the tassel thing, but I (quite clearly) do like them, and like this very much. I also think this black and white jumper is really nice – I’d wear it with jeans or throw on over shorts at the end of a hot day (we can live in hope). And, remember *that* black Love sweater Hush did last year? Well, it’s back and as covetable as ever.
Shorts & Skirts
Without meaning to sound like a 6-year old boy (or my 6-year old boy in particular) one of the best things about summer is that you can wear shorts (although he’d quite happily wear them year-round). Hush generally make excellent shorts. These and these look great in terms of cut, length and looseness. This white skirt with blue detailing is also very cute – and I imagine a little longer on most people than on the model. And, I must mention the good old harems. These are a Hush classic and a favourite in my house. Chic and comfortable, it’s a win, win!
