How to do the party season like a fashion editor

a597fc7f765498aff59236133760c77cWith the festive season in full, joyful swing, chances are that you’ll find yourself at a party – or deciding to dress things up a bit for Christmas day. (Although if you do choose to stay in your pjs, we’re fine with that. You’ll find no judgment here.) So I asked Holly White, one of the crazily stylish, gorgeous fashion girls at GLAMOUR for her top three party dressing tips. And here’s what she said…

1. “A chic pantsuit. So easy and always look fabulous. I’ve got my eye on a dark emerald velvet one from Zara.”

Holly’s quite right – a jumpsuit is a fast track to style. I went to a very swish party this weekend wearing one from Reiss with gold heels and I felt very suitably attired (bonus: it takes about three seconds to get dressed). I love this one in navy – now on sale. I couldn’t find Holly’s emerald green number online (note: the colour is huge for A/W) but try this one or this cropped version and this one in black velvet is gorgeous.

2. “A slip dress – but make sure it’s midi length.”
This Whistles dress is rather lovely – and the trim is extremely festive; this one from Theory is a thing of subtle beauty and this from Joseph is a study in effortless chic.
3. “A gorgeous, pointed block heel – they’re everywhere right now. Or a kitten heel.”
How about this pair in Santa red? Or a these with their glossy patent finish? I can’t resist a bit of glitter at this time (for which read, ‘any’) time of year. These are classics (so they should be at that price point – yep, I can hear you saying it). Am I allowed to include these for sheer bonkers delight? And these?

4. “Am I allowed another one? A box clutch.’
Dream stocking filler: Anya Hindmarch (like this one). Or head to Dorothy Perkins, Zara or Uterque (fashion editor’s secret). This marbled clutch is gorgeous. This bejewelled Asos bag is a bargain and this black one is a classic in the making,
