Introducing Bella Jane: the most stylish bracelet brand on the block

Do you love a well-stacked arm of jewellery? Well, join the club. There are few things as chic or covetable or just darn gorgeous as a wrist full of bracelets. Bella Jane is our latest find. A gorgeous, British-based jewellery label specialising in the prettiest stackable bracelets with the coolest charms and tassels, amazing necklaces, rings and earrings, it’s a must for anything looking for something a little special that doesn’t break the bank. Annabel Davies is the creative genius behind the brand, and with her classic, approachable attitude to style, we wanted to know more about her and her lust-worthy designs.

Please tell me a little bit about Bella Jane. How would you describe the label?

Bella Jane is all about quality everyday jewellery, beautifully packaged, at guilt-free prices! I make all the jewellery myself and have built the business on treating customers how I’d like to be treated. There are a gazillion different charms and styles to choose from, so I hope that there’s always something for everyone.

So, how did it all begin?

Bella Jane started from a hobby. I started making jewellery one summer with one of my sons as a bit of a fun holiday activity. Needless to say, I enjoyed it far more than he did! I’ve always loved jewellery, but not being a huge fan of costume jewellery, I decided to make myself some silver bracelets that I could just wear every day. I quickly became quite obsessed with these bracelets and had them stacked right up my arms! Friends and strangers in shops started to admire my jewellery and asked me to make them pieces, so I decided to set up a little website and see if I could sell a few pieces online and that was it – Bella Jane Jewellery out there. The timing was perfect. Having been a working mum (with 3 boys), commuting to London every day and having recently sold the training business (which I had bought into as part of a management buy-out), it felt like the right time to explore a change of direction!

How would you describe the Bella Jane woman?

Goodness, there is definitely no ‘typical’ Bella Jane woman and that’s what I love about it. My customers range from the age of 18-70! Because the bracelets can be worn in different ways and because of the huge amount of designs and charms, it is lovely that there really is something for everyone and so many different looks can be created. The one thing that my customers do have in common is that they love a stack! Most ladies collect the bracelets and end up with the most divine looking wrists of arm candy!

I love your bracelets all stacked together. Were they designed to be worn like that?

Yes, that is how I designed them, as I just love that ‘stacked’ look. However, I wanted it to be possible for people to create their own unique look and stack which would contain pieces relevant and meaningful to them, hence why they are all sold separately too. Customers can collect bracelets over time. I have ladies that add to their stacks with a new bracelet (or two!) each collection.

Do you have any favourite pieces from the current collection?

I am completely and utterly obsessed with the neon! I love a pop of neon in my stack so have been wearing the Neon tassel bracelets and stacking bracelets loads. Whilst I wear all 3 colours, the pink is definitely my favourite.

How would you describe your style?

I’m very classic and generally a high street girl. I love all the usual brands – Zara, H&M, Topshop etc. However, I do love supporting independent shops and brands too and I have a few lovely boutiques where I live where I buy some slightly more unusual pieces.

What do you wear to work?

When I do manage to make it out of my gym kit, I’m a jeans girl! I have a gazillion pairs of jeans from all different brands that I team with pretty tops (of which I also have a gazillion from the likes of Topshop and H&M. I will usually wear these with a little jacket (most of which come from Zara).

How would you dress for a night out?

Again, I tend to be a jeans girl. A cute pair of jeans with a slightly more ‘dressy’ top, possibly some heels and again, a little jacket. I do love a little leather jacket too. For summer I’m loving the jumpsuit.

And, how about the weekend? What’s a typical ‘uniform’ for you?

My weekend uniform is very much the same as my weekday uniform. However, with 3 boys and a dog and a considerable amount of time spent on the sidelines (I mean a considerable amount of time!!); I spend a lot of time in wellies! I love my Ilse Jacobsen little Chelsea boot wellies for this job as they don’t feel too wellie like!! In the summer, I love a dress, there are loads of pretty and affordable dresses around this summer and they always feel like such an easy option.

Heels or flats?

I spent nearly all of my city-working time in heels and you’d never have seen me in flats. However, I’m all about the flats these days and I am a recent convert to trainers! I have a couple of pairs from Air & Grace, which I love. In the summer, however, I do love a pretty sandal – again I have loads – all cheapies that I wear for a season and then move on and then there’s the wedge – my dream shoe! I’m not very tall (5ft 2…at a push) so I am loving the espadrille wedges this summer. I have just bought a pair from Zara and I plan on buying a few more bright colours.

And accessories – obviously Bella Jane, but are you a ‘bags’ person as well?

I LOVE handbags and have managed to collect some lovely ones over the years. My everyday staple is my Louis Vuitton Neverfull, which I bought as a nappy bag (as I can’t stand them!) when pregnant with my youngest. Some of my oldies are my favourites and I still love my Mulberry Bayswater as it is just timeless. I have just bought myself the gold monogrammed Gigi bag from Aurora London to use as a small everyday run around bag and I absolutely love it – it’s the perfect nude for everyday!

When packing for holiday, what are your essentials?

I am very minimalist when I go on holiday and like to pack light (I think it’s the fear of the washing pile the other side!). I’ve recently returned from a family holiday and my essentials were: 3-4 proper fitted bikinis teamed with pretty kaftans – this year I’m all over the neon tassels, pompoms etc! For evenings I bought a couple of pieces from Onjenu – a gorgeous maxi dress and a jumpsuit. I also have a little playsuit from last year. The best thing about these pieces is you can roll them up, shove them in the case and there’s not a crease to be seen!

Finally, make-up and skincare, what are your must-have products when you get up in the morning?

OK, I am a self-confessed make-up and beauty junkie! I don’t even know where to start with this one! OK, I’ll try to keep it brief – My favourite morning cleanser is Oskia Renaissance cleanser, followed by Indie Lee C0-Q10 toner, Bobbi Brown Extra repair eye cream, Sunday Riley Juno face oil and Zelens 3t complex moisturiser. Don’t even get me started on make-up! In the summer I like to keep it simple with a tinted moisturiser (my favourite is probably one by Laura Mercier), bronzer (I like Bobbi brown’s), a cream blush, mascara, (eyeliner when I mean business) and lipstick/lipgloss. Now I’m ready to face the world – phew!
