And a slightly belated hello to November.
This month’s top 10 wishlist is dedicated (apart from a perfect-for-winter book) to the smaller brands I’ve discovered via Instagram – because there is a great joy to be had from supporting a brilliant, burgeoning brand.
1.Edie box bag, £250, Carloe London
Once upon a time, I had the perfect red bag. Then it was stolen (from my son’s buggy at a fancy kids’ club, no less). Since then I’ve had half an eye out for a replacement, but never found one that matched up – until now. Carloe London was set up by artist Hannah Ludnow – who clearly has as good an eye for a bag design as she does a painting. The Edie bag is a thing of beauty (and also available in navy, which is highly tempting).
2. Small gold links bracelet, £150, Tilly Sveaas
Now this is what I call a statement bracelet (at a not-so-statement price). Add it to your Christmas list now.
3. Monogrammed coat, £395, Miranda Dunn London
Could this be the ultimate luxury? A coat with your initials on it. No wonder it’s called the happy coat.
4. Qui Moi? sweater, £135, Ille de Cocos
We love this brand. We also love the fact that you won’t find every second person wearing the same sweater. Clever, beautifully made and altogether delightful.
5. The Sentence is Death by Anthony Horowitz (available here)
Because when the evenings draw in, there’s nothing nicer than curling up with a good old school murder mystery.
6. Gingham flower dress, £179, Pink City Prints
Pink City Prints make the prettiest dresses and every single one’s a winner. (This could be an expensive experience.)
7. Lightning bolt earrings, £115, Harry Rocks
Possibly the coolest earrings I’ve seen for a long time courtesy of one of my favourite brands. I’m often asked about where to find affordable (i.e. not thousands of pounds but more than a high street pick up) jewellery – and this is one of the brands I’d recommend.
8. Ikat cushion cover, £70, Polkra
‘I have enough cushions’ said no sensible woman ever. Polkra is a new-to-me discovery and I want EVERYTHING. (Please.)
9. Orange Spice candle, £20, Hobo Soy Candles
The perfect (soy) candle to burn whilst you’re reading your murder mystery, leaning against your zig-zag cushion. Surely this is one of the scents of winter?
10. Cashmere polo neck, £280, London W11
Wrap up against those winter chills (warm enough to eschew a coat on milder days) in this objet of beauty. (On the high street, try this one from Gap.)
