Sydney Style: Cassie Moxham from Chic Mama tells us all

Now that we are firmly at the start of summer (are we? Can we call it summer? I think of June as summer, but maybe you still think of it as Spring….?) – Anyway, late Spring/early Summer whatevs, it’s the time of year when we Brits need to shed our layers and embrace lighter dressing, which after MONTHS of jumpers and coats and jeans and boots, can sometimes be tricky. To help us out, we are searching for inspiration from Cassie Moxham of Sydney-based blog Chic Mama. After all, being an Aussie, she knows all about dressing for warm seasons, and being a stylish one to boot, we wanted to get her inside view on Australian style… Where do you live? Sydney, specifically on the lower north shore, about a 20 min drive from the CBD and 30 mins or so to the beaches. How would you describe your style? Classic, feminine, with a touch of bohemian.   I wear mainly a neutral colour palette – lots of white, grey, navy, tan.  I love a nice floral print too. I know everyone is different but how would you describe general Australian style? Maybe a bit more relaxed.  Most of the population lives near…

How we fell back in love in Whistles

Ten or so years ago, in what we shall now refer to as my 'Wedding Years' you couldn't as much as go to a wedding or a hen do without bumping into someone wearing a Whistles dress. Quite possibly you were wearing one too. Probably with a nipped in waist and tulip skirt, they were incredibly flattering, beautifully cut and - this became the problem - EVERYWHERE. It was probably one of the reasons why during the 'Wedding Years' and then in the early 'Bump Years', I found myself going off Whistles. The style always used to be the same (not much in store for bumps and post-baby mum tums) and with a small baby and reduced salary, the prices were a bit out of my budget. And so, I got used to swerving Whistles, preferring instead the cheaper, headier thrill of Zara and then the delicious curveball designs of Cos and Stories. But, recently - and we're talking the last few months - both Natasha and I have started to fall in love with Whistles again....…

M&S: The Spend it Well Summer Edit

It can be tempting to keep your best clothes for, well, best. That flute sleeve beauty of a top? Can you really wear it on the school run, to work, around the house? Or that beautiful summery maxi dress, could you possibly wear it to the shops? We think yes. Life, is very much, for living, which also applies to your wardrobe. If you love something wear it and wear it and wear it, as what's the point in having something you adore just hanging forlornly in your wardrobe? With that in mind, we've both been busy checking out and trying on Marks & Spencer's new summer collection, which is very good this year and nicely ticking the sartorial boxes we love. Gorgeous flared midi skirts? YES! Tasselled jewellery and pom-pommed sandals? YES! Statement sleeves? YES SIRREEE! Here's what we've found that's available to buy in store and online now....…

Family camping UK: Cool Camping: Kids tells us where to go

If you'd told me ten years ago that I'd ever seriously consider going camping then I would have assumed you'd been knocking back the sauce. As a Travel Editor who reviewed 5-star hotels for a living, I was used to the luxuries in life, but OH how time changes. No longer paid to do such things, which are now firmly out of my reach, and with a gaggle of children underfoot, I've started to think that - actually, camping, or to be more accurate, glamping might be alright. An adventure even. And considering that we actually slept in a tipi on our wedding night, two or even three nights would be quite fun. So, when I heard that a new book was coming out Cool Camping: Kids, listing the best, most beautiful family-friendly sites in the UK, I asked the Editor, James Warner Smith to share his top 5 places for sleeping under canvas this summer...…

We want to live here: Emilie Jacob of Stella and the Stars’ Dubai home

I stumbled across Emilie Jacob's (@StellaandtheStars) gorgeous home on Instagram and it was love at first sight. At first, I lusted after her East London pad, but then, when she moved to Dubai a year ago with her husband Pete and 3-year-old daughter Stella, it was all about her new desert retreat. Her chic, contemporary style works just as well in rainy England as it does in sunny Dubai and there is plenty here to steal (I mean *inspire*). From a gorgeous gallery wall to a perfect pink desk area, this cool, lovely, creative French blogger is one brilliant interiors fiend.....…

Get set for summer: the Hush edit

Ok. So the sun isn't shining ALL the time, but summer (we promise) is on the way! And with that in mind, we're thinking about our summer wardrobes. Natasha is off on a well-deserved holiday soon, so she is particularly in the mood for summery dresses, gorgeous tops and brilliant shorts. And of course, the odd lightweight knit for when she's back home. And so, we've done a little edit of our favourite pieces from Hush's new collection. We love Hush - the cut and the style are fantastic, and this year it's looking really good....…
