I mentioned on Friday that Mango is my new go-to for little ones. Let’s start with these adorable trousers with little patched knees – perfect for crawlers. And the list does not stop there. (Or indeed, with this shop – there are some fabulous bargains to be snapped up now…)
This grey cardigan is very small-scale chic. I also cannot resist these start print leggings – and these grey ones a great basic for boys and girls. I find a baby in a romper nigh-on impossible to resist – the thighs! – so love this for a little girl. This cotton dress is a brilliant basic at an unbelievable price – and would you just look at the dear little ruffled sleeves on this one. The leather sandals (above) are too much.
For older girls, the vibe is Isabel Marant meets boho ethnic – think embroidered dressed with shoulder ties like this one, cute playsuits like this (LOVE the pompom trim), and a liberal sprinkling of broderie anglaise.
When my daughter was a baby, I was standing in a queue behind the chic-est mama/daughter duo. I commented on the little girl’s gorgeous ensemble and her mother leaned over and said, quietly, but emphatically, “Zara Kids. Amazing. I hit the sales every season to stock up for the next year.” I took the hint and now do the same. This year, I will try to buy less pretty frocks (she’ll be in school uniform come September) and more practical pieces, like this striped raincoat.
Having said that, i do like a pinafore and this is the perfect summer frock. Plus, these short dungarees are pretty cool – and oh my, the sweetness of these shorts. Buckle sandals are always a good look.
Zara Kids is one place which does boys’ wear rather well (praise be). Like this fab navy parka, these skinny jeans, these holiday-ready shorts and this peppy sweatshirt. My little man needs some tees – and I love this one.
For designer names make a beeline for Alex & Alexa, their sales are brilliant. Although I am ruing that the Stella McCartney Thumper Jumper is out of stock in blue. If you have a tiny girl – or know someone who is due to have one in the chillier months, please buy this in my stead… (Fingers crossed Stella reissues it in grey for the autumn.)
If it’s a pretty frock you’re after, then i love gorgeous has some of the prettiest around. You’d be hard-pressed to find a little girl who objected to any of them. The Mykonos dress is as cool and delightful as it sounds. I adore the Archie dress and how sweet is this playsuit?
