I am currently all about a boho top. I bought three last month (I know. I’m sorry, Mum, for not ‘confessing’ them all. I blame the hormones.) There’ something so Coachella about them: pretty, casual, free and easy, tanned limbs (I wish) and summer nights. They’re also a justifiable buy for now (bump o’clock looming) but can be worn afterwards (over a bikini and cute cut-off shorts on holiday; to dress up skinny jeans and sandals). It’s an investment buy, you see? Which is how you could (possibly) justify buying this beautiful object.
I think it’s the redolence of summer, combined with the ‘just ‘sling it on’ factor which appeals. Here’s a round-up of seven of the best. Now, let’s cross our fingers for sunshine…

Embroidered tunic, £118, JCrew

Athena Smock top, £55, Monsoon

Urchin wave and seahorse cotton top, £145, Easton Pearson Takeway at Matches

Crepe de chine blouse, £110, Rebecca Taylor at The Outnet

Beaded embroidered blouse, £29.99, Mango
On Wednesday, I meandered into the Oxford Street Topshop (where Kate Moss had launched her collection the previous evening). I only went because two of my lovely Glamour colleagues were going (and my boss had gone in the morning and pronounced the collection worthy of a shop). Now, it could have been the tube strike, it could have been that Toppers took the opposite approach to H&M when they launched their Isabel Marant collaboration – and decided to pile ’em high, but the shop was pretty quiet, and there were oodles of Kate pieces in nearly all sizes. Note: if you’re buying one of the many ethnic-y items, size down. I am usually a size 8 in Topshop; 5 and a half month’s preggers, I bought this in a size 4. Kid you not.

Embroidered smock blouse by Kate Moss for Topshop, £60, Topshop

Striped blouse, £100, Comptoir de Cotonniers

May 2, 2014 at 9:28 amI ordered the black Kate Moss one in my usual size as I already thought it looked big but I remember the previous collections she did and everything looked miniscule. It is a tent. So I have put in another order and downsized by one size and now I’m thinking I should have gone down two going by what you say.
Love the Comptoir blouse too though the most perfect one is the one in the first couple of pics – that one is just the creme de la creme of boho tops.

May 2, 2014 at 4:07 pmHonestly, Sue, all the ‘floaty’ pieces from the collection are enormous. I tried on the kaftan-esque dresses and said to my friend that they’d be great if I was expecting triplets. Funnily enough, all the non-floaty stuff if standard Toppers i.e. on the small side. Hope the downsized version suits – it’s such a pretty top, Much softer than it looks on the site.
Am on the hunt for one similar to the top two! (Bet it’s vintage….) Will keep you posted.

May 6, 2014 at 8:41 amI really fancy a top like this too (am also pregnant and it seems like a good option for a summer bump) but I want one in proper white not off white – seems like a hard thing to find unfortunately!
