Talented jewellery designer Zara Simon has Monsoon and Accessorize in her veins. As daughter of founder Peter Simon, the brand’s gorgeous boho feel is part of her DNA and subsequently she was the perfect person to design a capsule collection of jewellery for Accessorize. Having studied at Central Saint Martins, Zara launched her own eponymous collection before starting the Z for Accessorize range. Featuring beautiful pieces designed to be layered or worn on their own, both Natasha and I are huge fans. Here she lets us into her wardrobe and talks about the labels, designers and clothes that make up her own unique style….
“Since having a baby, my daytime clothes tend to be relaxed jeans from either J Brand (above), Frame or Topshop, which I team with vest tops from Gap or T by Alexander Wang (pictured above), silk or stretch tops by Joie and long sleeved tops. I also like t-shirts by Spell. I’m a bit obsessed with black and white stripes this season and have a great one from Maje and a cool black and white stripe skirt from Sass and Bide.
I wear dark colours because I wear a lot of jewellery and I find that black, navy and khaki works better on me. However, this season I’m loving camel and beige colours too. The Monsoon shirts by my sister Jessica Simon are amazing and great for both day and evening (the Senna star shirt is pictured above).
During the winter I gravitate towards Zara jumpers (I love their classic styles with the gold buttons on the sleeve, I have them in 4 colours), cashmere sweaters from The Elder Statesman and Zoe Jordan (I love her cutout ones) and also Vince (pictured above).”
Best Foot Forward
I am currently rotating a pair of Saint Laurent leopard ankle boots, some Valentino ankle rock stud boots in suede, some Charlotte Olympia western suede boots and a pair of black suede boots from Pull and Bear, which were £19, and I practically live in.
For the last few years I’ve only been wearing Golden Goose trainers. My faves are white leather and Fluro orange, although I’ve always worn Nike high tops.
My favourite bags at the moment are a Saint Laurent mini bucket bag for day and a Saint Laurent baby sac du jour, which I use for meetings. I also have a few pieces which I love from the Accessorize real leather range. The totes especially are amazing.
I recently bought a Saint Laurent bomber in navy that haven’t taken it off. I also have a great quilted bomber jacket in black from Uniqulo, a faux leather bomber from Topshop and smart jackets from Philip Lim and Pinko that are winter staples.
I really layer up the jewellery. My designs are inspired by textures and shapes especially in architecture and I love using stones especially labradorite and moonstones. My current favourites from the Z for Accessorize collection include the Mop spear pendant and all of the celestial pieces. From my main line, I’m wearing new pieces from my RAYS Collection such as the star cross oxidised diamond earrings and I never take off my flower power diamond necklace.
It depends where I’m going, but generally I wear jeans with heeled boots. I’m loving my Penelope Chilvers red velvet high-heeled ankle boots at the moment. I also love my Stuart Weizmann knee high flat suede boots paired with a mini skirt and a long sleeved jumper or with a short dress.
I’m obsessed with velvet, so there is always a bit somewhere, either a jacket or dress or skirt. I also wear a lot of leather skirts teamed with heels and boots and jumpers. This season I’ve been wearing two Zara dresses I recently bought- one is velvet and the other is long and pleated.
I’ve been wearing a cute star cross over bag in navy with metallic stars from Accessorize– it’s tiny and fits a lot in. I love it. I also have an Anya Hindmarch blue glitter lightening bolt clutch, a fun lucky girl bag by Charlotte Olympia and some simple zip up clutches from Accessorize. I love bags and actually used to design some when I was doing my collections in india.
I use Sarah Chapman skin products and only use Charlotte Tilbury‘s makeup – it’s amazing!
