Sunday Riley: the cult brand your skin is going to love

Now, my skin isn’t so bad that I have to leave the house with a bag over my head, but let’s face it, it could do better. Less of the congestion, not-so-fine lines, dullness and dryness and we could have a much happier relationship. Which is why, after a winter of waking up feeling dry and looking, quite frankly, TERRIFYING in the morning, I decided that enough was enough, and headed in pursuit of one of the hottest cult skincare lines on the block: Sunday Riley….…

My Beauty Uniform: Camilla

It’s a welcome back for our Beauty Uniform today. Alex and I were chatting about this, and we realised that – much as we love asking industry insiders about their beauty know-how – on a day-to-day basis, it’s our friends we turn to for beauty tips: how do you get your skin looking that good? How on earth are your limbs that silky-smooth? What’s the elixir of youth? That kind of thing. With this in mind, I knew exactly who I wanted to ask/badger into revealing her secrets: my friend Camilla Marsh. We become friends when she and her husband Tom moved opposite us (we won the neighbour lottery that day) – and then she had her gorgeous little girl, Matilda, not long after I had my little boy. So, much of my maternity leave was spent hanging out with these two girls – and not once have I seen Camilla look less than immaculate. Part of this is innate (I’ve seen her mum – ditto on the immaculate front); part of it is down to her being lovely on the inside, too (it definitely counts); and part of it is her job. Camilla has worked for two of the…

Winter Skin Hero

I have said in the past that every new mother should really have an Alex (a friend who has a baby just before you do, and is a kind and trusted repository of knowledge on all matters child-related. Even this time ’round, I found myself SOS-ing Alex. It was she who told me the little man would crack sleeping by Christmas (he did). Not to sweat over naps, he’ll get it (he did.) Who lent me an abundance of mini blue clothes.). They should also – if they’re very lucky – have a Camilla. A Camilla in this instance is code for: new neighbour who moves in whilst you are both pregnant and has a baby around the same time as you do. Who also turns out to be a lovely, funny and a like-minded soul. And has an insider’s knowledge of beauty products as an added bonus. Camilla introduced me to a skincare saver so good, that I in turn want to share it with you….…

The Beauty Insider…this is what you need to look hot right now

Yup, we know sometimes you just want to make it out of the house without scaring people, but other times (I’m thinking work/meetings/going OUT)  you do want to look pulled-together, chic and not in the least bit dated. Even perhaps like you look like you know what’s going on in the world. Which is where the fabulous Rachel Fiddes comes in. Having trawled the catwalk reports so you don’t have to, here’s her rundown of what beauty bits you need to buy to look hot right now….…

Winter-proof your skin

We love autumn and winter here at W&W. (For evidence, see Alex’s post – a hymn to autumnal delights, and this one, too). Good thing, too, as rumour (okay, my friend Sarah, who just seems to know these things) tells me that rumour has it that we are in for the coldest, snowiest winter since 2010. However, loving what winter does to our skin? Not so much. I, for one, come over all dry and itchy – and might as well take out shares in moisturiser, given the amount I am compelled to slather on to my parched skin. This year, however, it’s going to be different. 1. Because I am going to eat like this in preparation (thank you, Henrietta Norton) 2. I have taken the precaution of consulting Grace Timothy, beauty editor extraordinaire (we’ve said it before, but her Pregnant Beauty Guide should be your first port of call if you are pregnant – or even if you’re not, her beauty tips are always invaluable). Read on for her invaluable advice. Are you taking notes?…
