The Ultimate Dressing Up Box?

Pearl Lowe is our kind of (former) rock chick. When she had her brood (she has four children), she put music to one side and returned to her first love – design. It was a way to keep her creative side happy and spend time with her children. With an emphasis on textiles (she’s a vintage-loving fiend), her latest collection is a luxury lifestyle brand for children – Petite Pearl Lowe. And it’s a little girl’s dream come true. (I know one who said, “Wow, wow, wow” when she saw the pictures. Quite a review.) P.S. Come back soon to read Pearl’s five parenting truths.…

Shopping the Sales for Small People – Part 2

Shopping the Sales for Small People – Part 1

I am a big fan of ‘buy now, wear later’ for my children. Today my daughter wore a sundress I bought in the sales last year (the boy just wore navy striped leggings. He is crawling – and thus frequently filthy of knee). My sales hit list: Zara Kids, The Little White Company, Mini Boden and M&S. I’ll add Mango Kids to that list this year. Plus Elias & Grace and Alex & Alexa for some designer hits.…

Christmas shopping bonus!

A little addendum to my earlier post… Consider it a gift from us to you. After hanging out with Alex and her boys in the park this morning, C and I popped into Gap (to buy mademoiselle some new tights – now she is 3, I think I have stretched out size 18-24 months long enough) – and discovered that they have 50% off everything in store only today and all weekend. So, obviously, we left with tights, silver shoes, a skirt and the sweetest star-print pyjamas (which aren’t on the website, so I shall instagram them later – C insisted on wearing them to bed for her nap).  Here’s a tiny taster (remember to halve the prices! Although some things are on offer online, too, as indicated…)           Bear mittens, £9.95; sprigged floral blouse, £12.95 (£10.36 online); furry bear hat, £9.95 (or £7.96 online)           Rain swing jacket, £24.95; star ruffle skirt, £14.95 (£11.96 online); Cable knit pullover, £24.95 Buying silver shoes reminded me that I recently fell for these beauties – which I think will look super cool with dresses and grey or navy tights. Style File: Ariane Goldman, Founder of Hatch

Pregnancy. So exciting, so blessed, such a special time in your life. So not great when it comes to feeling stylish. At least, not for me. When pregnant, I feel like a whale and struggle to find clothes that not only look good, but feel good too. Most maternity lines seem a little staid in style. Which was why I was so excited when I discovered HATCH, a completely gorgeous clothing company which designs pieces to be worn before, during and after pregnancy. “I started HATCH after giving birth to my daughter Charlie and feeling like there was nothing out there for women wanting to feel chic and beautiful during pregnancy,” explains founder and designer Ariane Goldman. Based in New York (but shipping to the UK – hurrah!) Hatch rocks and is the total anthesis to all those wrap-dress, yummy mummy brands out there (which I’m not knocking, they’re just not me). So thank you Ariane, for making pregnancy dressing as cool as the little person you’re cooking inside.…

Join the (J) Crew

This adorable little chap is nearly as excited as I am that J.Crew has launched a baby collection.                     I have in the past written of my undying devotion to The Crew – and I am THRILLED that at least one of my favourite people is pregnant so I have the excuse to shop their smallest offerings. It’s a carefully curated selection of own-label designs, and a mini boutique of cool labels (Oeuf, Petit Bateau and the lovely Rikshaw Design). Here’s some of my favourites, you can shop them here.    …
