Shop the Sales for 2017’s Trends

Hello, and welcome to 2017. How’s the head? (Or am I just imagining that everyone else goes out and in fact you, like us, spent it on the sofa and went to bed early? (With a Lemsip, in my case. Rock. On.) If you’re bright eyed and bushy-tailed, why not reward yourself with a spot of Getting Ahead. Here’s how to shop some of 2017’s biggest trends in the sales. (Clever, no?)…

DVF for Gap Kids

Welcome to the extreme levels of designer cuteness that is the new Diane Von Furstenberg collection for GapKids and Baby Gap.   Do you have a little girl in your life aged anywhere from brand new to age 14? If not, can you borrow one? (Sorry boys – this really is one for the girls…) And mark this Thursday, 25th April, in your diary pronto – for this is when the Spring collection hits Gap stores. In our humble opinion, this collection is even better than the first. Think adorable little rompers; swimwear; sun hats; and graphic t-shirts adorned with butterflies, tigers and similar jungle fare. Quintessential iconic DVF prints are, obvs, firmly on the agenda –  this time, they’re African-inspired prints in colours that really pop. DVF says it’s “perfect for little explorers” (note to those who took issue with a wrap dress for little girls the first time around: this time, they have integrated shorts. Clever, eh?). I have my eye on the playsuit, espadrilles and skinny jeans for little C. The only question is: could I squeeze into age 14? (There’s optimistic, and then there’s ever-so-slightly deluded…)             Just one more: the DVF…

Zero time, Max style: Part Three

Sweater: Tippi sweater, £69.98, J.Crew You know our love for J.Crew. Let me tell you about this jumper. It is currently upholding its status as Most Useful Item in my wardrobe (I am wearing a navy Tippi today, with a cute navy quilt from Topshop and the Banana Republic necklace I tweeted not so long ago. It’s in the sale! Go buy!). I share my obsession with both J.Crew and the Tippi with my boss, Jo Elvin, the Editor of GLAMOUR, her PA and one of the fashion eds – so I know I am in good company (these women really know how to dress). Yesterday, Jo pointed out that Reese Witherspoon (a celebrity we think we’d be friends with, should the situation arise) was wearing a Tippi to show how she’s got back to her “pre-baby figure” (don’t you just love that preoccupation) whilst out and about in LA. And very nice she looks, too. Anyway, the Tippi. I love it. And would perhaps style this one thus. (I warn you – this is a dream scenario situ. But still, planning ahead…

Hand Candy

So, on Friday evening, my husband and I went out for supper to celebrate our wedding anniversary. (It was lovely, thanks. We went here – it’s just reopened after a refit and very nice it looks, too. Plus the food is pretty sublime.) Anyway, this is not the point. The point is that, when I was getting ready to go out, I realised that – despite a respectable collection of bags, I do not have one which befits an evening occasion. Obviously, what I really want is this (because what woman in her right mind doesn’t love a. a bit of sparkle and b. a bit of Anya): You could dress it down with skinny jeans and a (ahem) Breton striped top; dress it up with a fabulous evening frock (or be like my friend Anna and rock leather leggings and peep toes mere weeks after you give birth. Yep, that’s how fabulous she is.). But, fan of mine though she is, whispering about it in my two-year-old’s ear is unlikely to yield Hindmarch cometh Mothers’ Day. So, I opted to look elsewhere. I started here, because ethnic is so Right Now. This would make a low key outfit sing. Or you could opt…
