Need something to wear for work? Going out to the theatre/dinner/somewhere really exciting but don’t have time to hunt through the shops? No problem. Here’s an outfit to take you from office to evening. Just strut and go.
Denim shirt, £19.99 H&M
I love a fitted denim shirt tucked into skinny black jeans, a pencil skirt or cropped trousers. Wear with sleeves rolled up and the top few buttons unbuttoned. This one from H&M is the perfect shade of sky blue, although also check out Gap and J Crew for their super-stylish chambray numbers.
Clare metallic pencil skirt, £485, Joseph
Ok, this is on the expensive side, but it really is the perfect silver pencil skirt. Metallics are big this spring. Pencil skirts are big this spring. Therefore a metallic pencil skirt will blow you out of the fashion water. If you like this, but want a little more shine and a little more snake, try this one from Milly. If both of those shatter your budget, then try this one from Label Lab or keep an eye out at Topshop, where my spies tell me a stunning silver pencil skirt will be coming into stores soon.
Tribal necklace, £79, Cara at Fenwick
There’s nothing like a pop of bright turquoise to make an outfit. This beautiful handmade necklace is by NYC based label Cara, its design influenced by founder sisters’ Panna and Geeta Doshi’s Indian heritage. Alternatively, pile on the gold with a pendant like this or a show piece like this.
Lace up sandals, £69.99, Zara
Confession. I’m not much of a heel girl these days. It’s not that I don’t love them, I just don’t have much of a need to wear them. Saying that, I’m short, so when wearing a pencil skirt, I NEED height. These fabulous lace up sandals from Zara are the perfect blend of tough and pretty, and would go with anything. Alternatively, try these cheap as chips shoe boots from M&S.
Twin flap leather clutch, £65, & Other Stories
& Other Stories only launched last week (see our story here), but we’re already in love. This hot pink twin flap leather clutch will not only add zing to your outfit, but also has tons of pockets for stashing your much-needed clutter.
Leaf wrap ring, £20, Alex Monroe for Evans
I don’t believe in antiquated fashion rules such as you can’t wear black and navy together or put gold with silver. I love a bit of black and navy, and I always mix up gold and silver jewellery, so obviously I love the idea of accessorising a silver skirt with a gold ring. Alex Monroe makes beautiful jewellery and has just collaborated with Evans on an extremely affordable collection. This delicate leaf wrap ring may not be an heirloom piece, but it’s so pretty, you just won’t care.
