Last week, I had the enormous pleasure of attending the launch of Pampelone’s Mini-Me collection. And I just had to tell you about it…Pampelone was founded by wonder-woman (she really is. Four words: Forbes’ 30 under 30) Holly Anna Scarsella, one of the most inspiring, brilliant, charming women you could meet. On honeymoon, she spotted a gap in the market for beautiful beachwear which straddled not only the gap between beach and bar, but designer and high street. So she founded Pampelone the resort-wear brand which has become the stylish (and smart) woman’s holiday wardrobe go-to (I am currently eyeing up a few additions to my holiday wardrobe). Going away? This site does the packing for you.
Holly decided to launch a mini version of her three best-selling pieces for girls aged 2-7 (what could be sweeter?), and because her heart is as big as her business brain, she opted to donate 100% of the profits to mothers2mothers, an incredible charity which aims to eradicate paediatric AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa. Their vision? Empowering local woman so no baby is born with HIV and no mother need die of AIDS. (In the past 15 years, their work has cut the transmission rate of mother-to-child transmission of HIV from 40% to 2.1%. Truly remarkable.)
Now, having suffered my own complications with childbirth, the maternal health of women in less fortunate circumstances is an issue close to my heart, so I was signed up from the start. And then I took a look at the collection – and it’s just so lovely, so beautifully-made, and almost too-good-to-be-true that 100% of the proceeds go to mothers2mothers…I defy you not to be tempted. Go forth. Buy it for the minis in your life, don’t resist the chance to match: your style and your social conscience will thank you.
