It was hot. It was exactly like this. It made me want (as it does now) to jump straight into a swimming pool. One like this would be nice…

Or maybe like this…

Being in London, however, we will settle for this (which is actually pretty good if you have children…)

The-Worlds-End-posterI also quite fancy escaping the heat for a while and taking refuge in a lovely air-conditioned cinema. The World’s End is the final film in the trilogy from British director Edgar Wright. Starring Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Rosamund Pike, it’s a quintessentially British (in a good way) comedy about five friends who unwittingly become mankind’s only hope for survival. If you’ve seen and loved Shaun of the Dead or Hot Fuzz, then this one’s for you. If you think it sounds a bit blokey – well, yes it will appeal to your husband/boyfriend/love interest/friend, but it’s also funny, clever and makes brilliant comments on the state of modern Britain.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Weekend Wishlist without a bit of sartorial dreaming. I LOVE these sandals from Fendi. Half-price in the sale, they’re still eye-wateringly expensive, but wouldn’t they just go with everything? £362, Matches.

On a slightly more realistic note, I also have my eye on this necklace from Banana Republic. I’m torn between two colours – light blue and neutral. Perhaps I should buy both? £29.50

Accommodation4I am SO glad I’m not heavily pregnant in this heat, as I was at this time last year and two years before. But if I was about to pop or had a brand new baby and was fainting with exhaustion, I would be very tempted with a stay at the Mermaid Maternity Retreat. A post-natal retreat for new mothers (although you can also enjoy pre-natal treatments there), there’s private sound-proofed rooms,  a 24-hour baby team to look after your little one, amazing food created by the brilliant Vicki Edgson and a whole host of specialists from osteopaths to reflexologists and acupuncturists. They’ve employed the best in the business (from Emma Cannon to Tara Lee – the Queen of pregnancy yoga) and you can tell. It really is great. I wonder if Kate Middleton will stay there?
