I have something of an enduring love affair with interiors books – particularly bright, beautiful, big coffee table books. They just make me happy: providing escapism (how will I decorate that house by the sea?) and an endless source of inspiration. This, this and this are my reigning favourites, but there are three new books jostling for space on the table.
Decorate with Flowers by Holly Becker & Leslie Shewring
Holly Becker writes the wonderful Decor8 – an endless source of inspiration, ideas and a feast for the eyes. She has impeccable taste. Her blog is beautiful – as is this book. The photography is exquisite, the ideas do-able (although perhaps in not quite such style…) and just having the book lying around will make your home a prettier place.
Bright Bazaar: Embracing Colour For Make-You-Smile Style by Will Taylor
Will Taylor’s blog Bright Bazaar is a slice of joy. Here is a man who knows how to embrace life and colour. His book is a delight: imagine a super stylish friend taking your arm, tucking it into his and telling you that it’ll all be alright, that there is Life After White; that you, too, can have a home which shines with cosiness and vivid splashes of colour guaranteed to lift your heart. I think I might love him.
Design Bloggers at Home by Ellie Tennant
The author (who blogs here) has colllated 12 gorgeous homes – decorated (or curated, if you will) by design bloggers. Ellie’s an experienced interiors journalist, so this is tip top stuff. The homes featured are scattered around the globe (the UK, Sweden, the Netherlands and California – the home of the fabulous Joy Cho of Oh Joy) – and style spectrum. And – thank heavens – there are plenty of insider tips and ‘how I did this’.
